The Crystal Red Shrimp

Scientific name: Caridina cf. cantonensis

Better known as the Crystal red shrimp or red bee shrimp, this unique mutation of red and white coloured shrimps originated from Japan in the 1990s from a well known breeder, Hisayasu Suzuki. He discovered some red coloured mutations amongst his black bee shrimps caridina sp. and used those for selective breeding. The crystal red shrimp is readily available in most countries worldwide today and has since been bred for the intensity of colours and different patterns. The crystal red shrimp is a bred species and cannot be found in the wild.
